Site: http://seogarden.com/lll/ (staging)
Joomla: 3.1.5
Template: Shop & Buy
Modules: GK Menu
Issue: Unable to build a dropdown menu or Megamenu.

I purchased and installed your template assuming it came with some sort of Megamenu. Apparently I was wrong, but I have seen in other posts that at least others had a drop down menu if not a full megamenu and by looking at the options that come with the GK menu plugin I should be able to at least display one or more modules under a menu position.
This is a pretty standard feature in most contemporary template and I am really surprised it doesn't seem to work.

DO I have to go get my own megamenu and install it? Or is there a way to make it work?

Here is a screenshot of the menu as it was commissioned. Is it possible to achieve this type of menu with this template or should I go in another direction?

I have tried almost every combination of settings I could think of but the most that happened was that when the module position under a top level menu was turned on (show module position) the actual menu disappeared completely.

I would like to know ASAP so I can remediate this issue quickly. Thank you.

All that you need to configure our mega menu is GK Menu plugin which you can find in rest_files package. If you use quickstart the plugin is already installed because as you can see on demo site template have dropdown menus. More about configuration you will find here >> http://www.gavick.com/documentation/joomla-templates/gavern-framework/gavern-3-0-menu/

Thank you. I am sorry I am so late thanking you but the project was delayed and I am only now going back to it.

Incidentally, I did install the plugin you mentioned, but Megamenu still wasn't working for some reason. So I did a bit of surgery and I took the megamenu from another template and customized it. Seems to work OK.

Thank you again.

It has been a while, but if I recall I took the JS + CSS files from Storebox and I place them in Shop & buy.

Prior to that I wasn't able to make the megamenu work in Shop & buy. I would change to "classic Menu and there would be no dropdown at all. The other menu gave me that strange modal menu that it seems is the hallmark of this template.

I have a staging site working t http://seogarden.com/lll/

I have since looked at the demo and I saw that there is indeed a megamenu there. Maybe I did something useless by moving the files over and all I had to do was activate the plugin, but at the end it woked.

As I said, it's been a while and I seem to remember activating the plugin and still not seeing any drop down, let alone a megamenu. That's when I looked at the other template and I figured that "if it works there, it must work here" and it did.

One of the issues I have with this design (not mine BTW, I am just implementing it) is the funky way the menu is designed. It's possible that since I built the look of the menu beforehand I could have done something to break megamenu. But whatever I did, I fixed it by splicing the other template megamenu and CSS.

I suspect that you have some 3rd party script conflicts. Did you check browser console for JS errors?

At the time I didn't find anything, but I have a backup from that time I can install and take another look. Right now is sort of a mute point since the megamenu is working, even though I am using another template JS files.
When I have some time I'll take a look.
