News Show Pro GK5 v.1.4.0 has been released!

The newest version of our News Show Pro GK5 module, the most advanced content-display module available for Joomla, has been released and includes a host of great improvements and fixes.

Version 1.4.0 also introduces several new features, created based on feedback from our users; you can see these new features in action in our latest template for information portals, News 2.

Thumbnails of images in the link section

The first and most important change is adding the ability to display thumbnails in the link section:

These thumbnails are enabled in the block with links options:

You may specify the size of the thumbnails in the Thumbnails section:

Link to any page under the main links

Very often the content of the module is linked to a specific subpage of our website; that’s why we’ve made it possible to add a fully-customizable link that may be display under the block of links:

This link may be configured in the link block options:

Portal mode with video support

Our latest News 2 template inspired us to create a brand new video portal mode, Video List:

It allows you to create a scrollable list of items, which when clicked will display a clean, unobtrusive video overlay provided by the K2 video component.

With components other than K2, such as standard Joomla items, normal articles will be displayed without overlays.

Many minor improvements and fixes

As you would expect, this latest release also includes some less-spectacular but nonetheless important improvements and fixes, including:

Plans for version 1.5.*

The next version of the module will focus on integration with other components, and you can also expect a few more new portal modes. The list of intended changes for version 1.5.0 is still fluid, so please submit any ideas you have for features/improvements in the issues section of our official module repository and we’ll see what we can do!

How to install/upgrade?

You can download the newest version of the module here. Or you can use the Joomla! update system to upgrade the module to the newest version.
