I'm running a 1.7 Quick Install The World News II site (like 1,5month old) and like to spice it up with Jomsocial. I know there are templates optimized for Jomsocial which makes me wonder if I can expect any difficulties installing the Jomsocial component on my site.
Please advise

Hi,
No you shouldn't have them. First install jomsocial component, then you need to copy gk_template for JS. You will find it in gk_rest_files package.

Ok it's a little bit more clear now. Will see if I'm brave enough to do something

Can you explain little more ?

I installed the Joomsocial component and pressed the finalize installation and during this several red messages flashed across the screen. Now in the back end it says JomSocial Zend Plugin is disabled or missing.Konrad M wrote:Can you explain little more ?
In the frontend is says COM_COMMUNITY_ZEND_PLUGIN_DISABLED
COM_COMMUNITY_ZEND_PLUGIN_DISABLED
and the rest files did not work to upload due to missing of an XML-file so I'm not sure if I should have unzipped them before or not.

And now I've unzipped the file and read the read file and that was way to much fuzz for me to install the Joomsocial component.

Thanks but to late. It's way to complicated for me who have not been working with Joomla in a couple of years and still haven't grasped the basics and now I don't have a clue to uninstall the Jomsocial component..
If I can do that I have no problem in installing an additional site to keep the jomsocial thing on using i.e. Music but first the nonfunctional (in my case) installation has to go.

This is the error message I get when (once again) trying to install Jomsocial to the World News II 1,7 installation (which I tried again in a complete fresh WNII installation)
After installing the restfile and added the thing to the header I now have this message COM_COMMUNITY_ZEND_PLUGIN_DISABLED and I may be blind but I can not find out where to fix that
Error connecting to the server: failed to open stream: no suitable wrapper could be found
Unknown Archive type
Install path does not exist

Hi
JomSocial needs Zend plugin enable (actually JomSocial install it).
If this is not enable, them you must enable on Plugin Manager panel.
After you have all JomSocial requirements set, you just need to upload via FTP the gk_style available on the rest_files package to the following address: ../components/com_community/templates/
Them go to JomSocial templates panel and enable gk_style as default theme.
Cheers

Absolutely clearer
however the zend plugin was no where to be found in my installation in the Jomsocial installation I made on my site which initially is built out of the World News II quick install 1,7

Probably some legacy files left there from previous JomSocial installation on our project server.
JomSocial fault... not entire from us. When we uninstall JS it suppose all files are removed and only database are keep.
But that pretty strange because normally we don't have this problem reported from our members.
But did you manage to install it or not?
