One template folder multiple Joomla sites - is it possible?

Hi,
Is it possible to put a template in lets say /root/oneTemplateToRuleThemAll/ and use this template for the multiple Joomla instalations like /root/Site1, root/Site2 etc.
It would be awesome if one can do that as in this way modifying one template reflects the changes to all sites

Its server side question...
It could be done with use of symlinks, but you can only do that having shell access.
