Menu Customization

I am trying to customize the menu so when I hover over the parent item the sub menu appears longer. I have customers complaining that if they move their mouse off the menu bar the sub menu disappears to fast. Also is there a way to keep the sub menu items close to the parent menu? For instance if I have a parent item to the far right on the menu the sub menu items will appear on the far left. Thank you in advance for any help someone may have. My website is www.amishshedsny.com
