My ICKI sports site has slowed down tremendously after upgrading to j1.5.23. Any suggestions or checkoffs would be helpful.

Hi

The site performance tool is showing that site doesn't looks so bad. The hardest part are images:

Total Weight - 2379.2K

Anyway it's working pretty fast when it's cached.

Well it looks like there is a lot of optimization needed even on your server.

With yslow i am getting -> The page has a total of 97 components and a total weight of 2379.2K bytes
and with Page Speed -> Page Speed Score: 38/100

▸ Enable Keep-Alive [Score: 0/100]
▸ Leverage browser caching [Score: 0/100]
▸ Combine images into CSS sprites [Score: 3/100]
▸ Enable compression [Score: 76/100]
▸ Optimize images [Score: 82/100]
▸ Serve scaled images

You should try to enable gzip or/and cache.

Done. Gzip enabled. Cache enabled. Still seems slow. There are a lot ofimages in the images folder but the front page was much faster before upgrading. what optimization on the server do you recommend?

I suggest that you enable memcaced (if it's enabled on your server)

Mem cache is now on. I have other options such as:
Persistent Memory Cache No Yes
Memory Cache Compression No Yes
Memory Cache Server HOST: Port:

Do i need these par to be filled in or leave blank for default settings?

That's probably because memcached is not enabled on your server. Try to disable by editing configuration.php file.

You must at least fill the HOST and Port.

Host doesn't support it. Just found out. I am going to re-install on a diff domain and compare speed. Hopefully today or tonight. Will update then. If you have any other suggestion, plz let me know. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
