Hello,

While trying to install gk_news_quickstart_J!2.5.zip of this template:
https://www.gavick.com/joomla-templates/news,109.html
I got this error at the Database configuration step :

Could not refresh manifest cache for extension:fields_common

Because of that I cannot complete the install.
Any ideas ?

I had the same problem. And I did not really know what was going on. I never had any problem with the QuickStart kits before. Fortunately, I had an old version of the template and used that.

It would have been nice if the QS kit was fixed by Gavick. This is a more dated version of the News template series but it remains very popular even more so than New2. So, a fix would have helped a lot of followers of this template.

One more thing, I hope Gavick continue to support this Classic template in the future, and not suffer the fate of old templates. Quite honestly, I consider it one of your best. And the only one I use. I am trying to use News2 also but somehow I am not as satisfied with the customization I have tried so far.

Hi

It is not a matter of fixing anything. Problem is that newer quickstart is much bigger and not all servers allows such long database connection and even if joomla installator splits it into smaller portions a warning is shown and installation fails. If showing errors is disabled than installation works correctly. It happens in most of the reported cases of quickstart not working.

I also experienced the same problem.

With the instructions in the https://www.gavick.com/documentation/jo ... o-fix-them
I've done at localhost failed. While in hosting also failed. And there's nothing I can do with this quickstart templates.

Is there another way?
or, are there already successfully through this stage? teach how please.

My best regards.

Sorry, it worked by creating a "manual configuration.php". Creating "manual user".

Hi

This means that problem was most likely a wrong permissions on a server. Scripts was not allowed to create new files I guess.

Hi. I have the same problem with News template for joomla 2.5.
I get: Could not refresh manifest cache for extension: fields_common error when I try to install it.
I cleared the cache of the browser and used multiple browsers but still the same.
The link you keep giving doesn't have a solution to the fields_common error.
Please advise. Thanks.

Hi

Please send me an access to joomla panel so I'll try to install this template myself.
