I want to speed up my website www.casino-online.bz so I enabled cache on global configuration (ON Conservative chaching) and I enabled system cache plugin too.
But when I enable the System Cache plugin I get strange characters on categories links and intro text:
Such screenshot has been taken by www.casino-online.bz/poker . Now system cache plugin is disabled cause it changes characters, so you can see that the real good text for the red link is:
"Felix Stephensen è 2° al WSOP 2014, il fisco festeggia"
Can you help me?

Hi
I think this is something You should report on joomla.org forums. Try maybe using a different cache solution. Best I know is jotCache. It will be a good test for the problem You have.

I noticed that the problem is the combination of both (). If I enable only one everything works, but if I enable both (no matter in which order) then characters go crazy.
Do I have to write on joomla.org or on K2 forum?

Hi
What do You mean by "combination of both" ? System cache plugin and conservative caching. I'm pretty sure one cannot work without the other, so basicaly chars are broken when cache is used. Do You have same result with GK Cache alone or jotCache ? If no, than it will be a joomla issue.

For combination of both I mean if I enable System cache plugin and I enable conservative caching. I did not know they have to work together.
Just enabled gk cache as plugin and on template settings and did not get any chars problem.

Hi
Than it looks like a joomla cache problem after all. Try update joomla to the latest version if You do not have one already, but I would advice to disable all cache You have right now and install jotCache instead. It's the best cache solution I know and testing the mentioned issue with this cache will tell something more about the problem.

Thank you Teitbite for your suggestions. I already have the last version 3.3.6 of Joomla and the last of K2.
I already disabled all the cache and I wrote on Joomla forum, but nobody is answered me.
I do not want to install Jotcache now because if my characters do not work with cache then it means my website has problems and I would find out what kind of problems it has.
Can't you help me in this direction? I know this is not a Gavick question, but you could help me indirectly with suggestions like the past one where you told me to write to joomla.org forum.

Hi
The only 2 cases I can think of when chars are changing is when:
1. Font is not being loaded and the replaced font does not support all characters. To test if this is the problem simply check the path to fonts folder with and without cache. If file is not loaded when cache is enabled than a direct path in /layout/blocks/head.php ma help.
2. Encoding of some files is different than rest of them (happens if files are edited with some editors). It does not make a difference when files are used separately, but putting them together like while compressing or caching may behave like You explained. The only way to fix this problem is to encode all files to utf-8.
I can think about couple more reasons, but less probable than the 2 above.

By switching cache-nocache to check the fonts, the website displayed chars correctly when it is in cache. These are the secret of Joomla.
Can you tell me how can I check if the cache really works?

Hi
First disable cache, than clear it and see if there is no files in /cache folder. After enabling You will notice files being created there.
I still would advice to use jotCache instead. This may not have a described characters problem and is much better than the joomla cache.
