add new parent categories to left side categories menu

hello there

id like tips on how i edit the left side category menu so that it has one parent then like three children categories, then another parent and three children categories ....so where can i do that.

Glad to hear that You've figured it out. Categories menu can be manage with a module which came with e-commerce solution used (Hikashop and Virtuemart has such modules included in installation package). It can also be made manually with a default joomla menu module.
