Social Networking: Community Builder vs Jom Social?

Which is the better social networking (community network) plugin?

For me JomSocial give your more possibilities but it is paid. If you need base 'social' features community builder will be also a good choice but remember that some CB extensions are also paid.

I chose to use Jom Social with Gavick's Startup Template.

Is there a way to customize template and layout for Startup?

Or will Joomla 3.0 and JomSocial for Joomla 3.0 take care of template design compatibilities?

Where did you find information about JomSocial and Joomla! 3.0 compatibility ? Template don't support JomSocial but it mean that there is no dedicated style for JomSocial extension but it will work without any problems. Customizations in CSS code you can make in override.css file.
