Writer template, Menu non-functional, Chrome 37

Writer is a clean and professional theme for blog or personal website.

I love the 'Writer' template.

I want to give it a try but the main menu on the left side doesn't open out when using Chrome 37.
It does function the correct way on Firefox and IE.

Just letting you know. I'll keep an eye on it and am eager to use this one after version 1.0. Great job on this design, it really is clean, simple and professional.

Love your templates, I've been a member for about a year but this is my first forum post.
My apologies if bug reports belong in a different section.

I'm using Chrome Version 37.0.2062.124 and it works correctly. Please check Chrome in incognito mode.

Hi!
I´m using Chrome Version 40.0.2214.111 m
I can´t open the main menu left with chrome using the mouse. I have a touchscreen and tipping on the menu icon the opens it up.
Are there any news about a fix?
I´m not using a beta version. Incognito mode behaves the same...

Hi!
I´m talking about the demo. If it doesn´t work there, I guess it won´t work if I install it on our server... or am I wrong?

Well I finally installed it. Please take a look at
http://www.mehrwert-web.services/
It is the same problem: Opening the menu using the finger on the touchscreen works. Klicking the icon doesn´t... I have no idea why.
Thanks for your help!

Also - perhaps it is a browser plugin that messes with the site? Please open the site in Incognito Mode and check if problem stays same.

Hi!

I´m using Windows 8.1
Incognito mode changes nothing. It still doesn´t work.
I think it has to do with the mouse click action. If I use the chrome inspector (for developers) and use the mobile emulator, the menu works. It simulates a mobile device in chrome (screenshot). A mouse click works in this mode but not in the usual chrome mode.

Perhaps the thing is - that your device is a laptop with touchable screen... I will submit the issue to our devteam but I'm afraid there is no such device in our lab.
Please specify exactly what kind of hardware are you using.

Ok, to debug it a little bit more, please visit this site:
http://api.jquery.com/click/
scroll down to example section and please do 2 things:
1. click a paragraph with a mouse and check if it disappears.
2. touch a paragraph and check if it disappears.

I clicked
"First Paragraph"
"Second Paragraph" and
"Yet one more Paragraph" in the demo frame with the mouse and fingertouch.
Both methods worked (disappeared) absolutely fine.

I'm afraid this is a browser issue. I have asked our dev team for ideas and will write back as soon as I'll get an answer.

Seems we might have an idea to fix it.
Please send me a PM with:
1. URL to your website
2. login and password of user with admin/super-admin privileges (please create one for me)
3. ftp data (host, user, password)
4. link to this thread

@Pipemeister current template (updated) should already have fix for that. Is the problem still there?

Seems like this is a completelly new problem.
Could you please Provide detailed informations on your hardware/software? (os version, chrome version, does your hardware use touch screen etc).

Ps... I guess this is no longer Chrome 37 version problem, as current version is 45.

Hi guys,

Identical problem with my XPS15 laptop, and I also had this on another website app we use (Oktopost).

It seems that there is something triggering to stop the menu expanding on TOUCH enabled devices, and hence it does not work as expected. The XPS15 laptop has a touch-enabled screen, so I guess it might be getting confused somewhere.

When I access on my desktop computer, it works just fine. Same OS, same version of Chrome, same website.

So I think the problem here is the TOUCH ENABLED device part, specific to Chrome if it only happens on Chrome maybe.

I'm using Kubuntu, Chrome version Version 47.0.2526.111 (64-bit) and I have the latest version of your Writer template installed.

Hope that gives you something to work with, I have PM'd my URL for reference. Happy to do a screen share to demonstrate!

Does this help testing at all?

You can reproduce this by using a touch enabled device or by enabling touch in chrome flags: chrome://flags/#touch-events.

Might also be worth mentioning, if I am using just the laptop (e.g. no external screens) and I touch the screen, the menu opens fine. It does not do this if I click on the menu.
