Change Background color

Hello people.

How can i change the background color of my site. I want the grey ''columns'' at left and right to be black to match with my bg image.

I am giving you a picture to show you what i want.

I went to template.css and i changed these options

but nothing happened.

The site is not live. I am working on it locally.
