Changing the template Coloring

I have a Sporter template installed and i want it to customize to suit my needs..At the moment, i am confused with the codes. Please help me achieving the following
I would like to change the coloring of the template. I would like it to be purple and gold. Replacing the black border with Purple and replacing the red with gold.
Please help!!!!!!

Hi
If you want to make your own color theme, you need to work on the following files:
../css/gk_stuff.css
../css/style1.css
../css/style2.css
../css/template.css
Of course, you also need to change images placed on ../images/ template directory.
You can change them using the psd source files provided on the rest_files package.

First of all Thanks for the quick reply...
As i am a newbie and a learner, i am confused as where to change the code as there are lots of code... I am lost in the codes(sorry for my ignorance).... Can you please guide me where to change the code(the part/line number of the codes) so that i can change it without any unwanted results
