If you had or have older version you have to remove all those files manually (from templates/msocial/html/com_community).

It is very obvious that customers are being forced to buy the VIP support. Even after installing the entire Joomla & then Jomsocial and then unzipping quickstart in root folder, nothing happens. I also tried installing via regular administrator route. nothing happened.

where is documentation as to what i must do with quickstart

Just install JomSocial 4.x package on your current Joomla installation - that's all.
You don't have to buy VIP membership - from who you have such a idea ?!!

QuickStart do not include commercial components!

When i extracted the files in root folder (mysite.com/cloud3/) it created a folder called GK-...quickstart. When i surfed to https://mysite.com/cloud3/GK-...quickstart/ it showed a joomla configuration screen where there was a form to fill and to hit next. I did so. But database gave error even though i created the db_user and database ahead of this. Should i install on a clean folder WITHOUT having Joomla or Jomsocial already installed? i.e. Does quickstart contain Joomla3 AS WELL AS Jomsocial4? (I have purchased a professional version for $149 and also indicated to them the directories in which i was going to install)

I suggest to use clean, new database (!) and it doesn't matter which QuickStart you will use, it must be J3 only.
Yes, also you can install template and then JomSocial on completely clean Joomla 3.4 installation.

1) The last time i used your template (gamebox with jomsocial) in 2009 i had major problems with spam registrations and had to shut down the site then. Don't you have ReCaptcha or other type of security feature to block spam registrations?
2) Our site is totally community/social media. Do i understand correctly that some trending posts can automatically be brought to the frontpage/landing page and not just the News Feed under jomsocial? If so how?

It was 2009, now we have 2015, and probably all works much better... and ReCaptcha is apart of JomSocial.

All works like on JomSocial demo... if you will publish default JomSocial component view.

If most cases none, only in configuration.php file - you have to change /tmp and /cache folder.

I believe truppl.com was developed using a template such as yours.

Does the VIP Support offer me enough customization help to configure your template to be on par with truppl.com ?

VIP Membership is also not for customizations tasks/jobs.
This is and always was a private deal with somebody - so I can guess one of our moderator can value for you his price for each hour of his work. Customization is/was always the most expensive part of each project. I'm in this business too long and I know it very well.

One of great features of new JomSocial since v3.x is that JomSocial Toolbar is normal menu - you can use it instead of MainMenu, all you have to do is choose that menu in template settings. Do not forget about it.

As for the Jomsocial toolbar, i tried that but it is not similar to the Jomsocial toolbar (with notifications and friend requests icons) as it appears under Jomsocial menu item (when clicked).

Again, M social seems to be a bare-bones template without much of the functionality built-in. I can't compete using that. However, back in 2006 and again in 2009 i was floored by the exquisite templates (News & then gamebox). But i am afraid a lot of functionality is missing i think given that there should have been so much improvement since 2009.

ok, I understand. In general our templates are not created for one component purposes only - so maybe that's why.
And sometimes using dedicated software is much better than Joomla or other long list of extensions.

Do you have a template coming up for easy social (looks like this is dedicated). Perhaps I can exchange.

I have no idea yet, what next template will be.
