I downloaded pure quickstart template, installed on server and turn on "CSS Compresion" in tab "Advanced Setting".
But the compression doesnt work. There is no one compressed css file, but still very many varius files (I checked with Firebug and other tools).
Could you help me to solve that problem?
Best regards 4all

The issue was with permissions to /cache folder - Joomla couldn't create subfolder inside.
Now when gk subfolder was created (manually via ftp) - all works fine.

Thanks for explanation! It helps.
But... I checked permission earlier and "cache" folder had 755 - like all others folders.
In other new test installation of your quickstart was the same - folder cache has 775 and compression doesnt work.
Only manually creation helped. Like you did.
Could you say something about the reason of this situation? Its a problem with the server (hosting service) or Joomla instalation?

Perhaps it is some wired server configuration that doesn't allow creation of folders via http/apache user.
