social buttons in k2 articles

i have disabled these as far as i can tell in the template as well as twice in the category (??) they will not go away. can you please advise where these can be removed from ?

You mean social buttons in single article like this one:

Please start by verifying if disabling them in this single article works at all. Also check if it is k2 or default Joomla article.

I have from what I understand disabled these however there has been no impact. It is k2

Have you tried "Item view options" on the right during single article edit, "Social sharing" section, 3 selectors disabling Twitter, Facebook and Google+? When I change this settings on default quickstart, those icons disappear.

I have tried that, and I don't think it took effect. That would be for a single article, how can this be achieved as a global default?

Please make sure it works for a single article, if so, you can set same thing for a category.
