Virtuemart search pagination not working properly

I use a search extension to re-route the user to virtuemart search page when they press enter. Everything works fine until they try to use the pagination or the next page button. when the user lands on search page the link is:

/component/search/?keyword=word&searchwordsugg=&option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&view=category

and when i try to click on the next page button i get the following link

/component/search/?keyword=word&page=shop.browse&start=42

I tried disabling all theming and paginations from the /html of the template but it still continues to appear. Any suggestions?

I think You should be asking VM developers about that, but to be sure it's not because our template try to change template to joomla default one and check again.
