Main NSP: Why Aren't New Articles Displayed?

My browser: Google Chrome 16.0.912.63
When I create a new category (Joomla 1.7 or K2) and a new article in that category - specifying this in the Main NSP module located at the top1 position, I get an error: Error: No articles to display.
But when I switch back to a category (Joomla or K2) that was pre-installed with the quickstart, the old articles are displayed by the Main NSP module.
What am I doing wrong?
